Unexpected Date Night and Day 1 of August Grocery Challenge

My mom wanted to spend some time with the girls as she will be going away for the weekend.  She goes in kiddo withdrawal if she doesn't see them at least a couple times a week.  Mr. Ripples was off tonight so my mom offered to watch the girls so we could go out.

We went to a local Mexican restaurant and met up with a friend.  We had a good dinner and with a coupon only spent $17.00 and that included 2 meals, a pop and tip!

Then since I needed to go grocery shopping anyways this evening, Mr. Ripples joined me.  Before we had kids we always did the grocery shopping together.  Nowadays, I usually go and leave him home with the kids.

We spent $147.35 out of my $440 August grocery budget.  I have almost everything I need to make dinners for the next 2 weeks.  Right now we have lots of produce.  I will have to stop at Acme this weekend for more produce and a couple things they have on sale, that shouldn't be more than $30.

  1. Those are always nice, when you get surprise downtime. Nice that you guys went to dinner! My dad hates going grocery shopping with my mother, and he usually just stays in the car and plays with his ipad. I don't hear of many people that enjoy grocery shopping together, so that's great you guys do.

  2. I love going grocery shopping and my husband does okay until about halfway through the store.
