I've been investing in my 401k since I was first able to when I was 21. I started with the minimum 4% to get the company match. It seemed to take for ever to get anywhere. About 2 years ago I upped it to 6%.
I got my statement today and my balance is over $19,000. Woohoo! It seems like it took for ever to get past the $10,000 mark but now its been making some nice jumps each time I get a statement.

Awesome! My 401k has an option that I elected to increase my contributions by 1% every year. I like it because I might not otherwise increase it.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking I should increase each year by 1% but I just haven't done it. But I never get around to filling out the paper work. It would be nice to be able to just have it done automatically.
DeleteHaha, I started a post this morning related to 401k and just finished posting it before reading that. It felt like forever before I hit 10k, and now I'm slowly making my way up to 15k. You'll be at 20k pretty quick! So jealous you guys get company match. It's a great way to bump your accounts up.
