Guns

They scare the crap out of me.  My husband really wants a gun.  He wants to be able to have protection in the house if needed.  I don't know if I would feel safer or not.  My husband works midnight's and I definitely have a hard time sleeping when he's not home.  Every little noise scares me.  I block the door to the basement so if someone breaks in through the basement window, they won't be able to get upstairs.  When we first moved in, Mr. Ripples bought me a baseball bat to keep by the bed.  I have a fear that someone will break in and I won't be able to get to both my girls to save them.  But then I also have a fear of having a gun in the house.  I told Mr. Ripples that we would both have to take lessons and learn more about guns and how to shoot first.  Then if we got a gun we would have to get 2 lock boxes, one for the bullets and one for the gun.  That way if for whatever reason our girls got into one of the boxes, they still wouldn't be able to accidentally shoot the gun.  I'm paranoid.

So anyways, for Christmas I bought Mr. Ripples and Me our first lesson.  We just never got around to going until today.  My sister came over to watch the girls and let her son have some playtime with his cousins.

I was really nervous and when we went over how to handle the gun and the safety precautions, I didn't think I would remember everything.  But after the lesson, I feel a teeny bit more confident handling a gun.  It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.  We definitely will be going to practice a lot more and try out a few different types of guns before I will commit to actually buying one.  But I feel a little more at ease with the idea.

  1. I have been shooting my entire life and I think it's all in your comfort level. Just remember that you don't have to buy a gun when you're done with your lessons.
