Getting Back to Couponing

I used to match coupons to sales a lot.  But when Little R came along it seemed like too much work to hit all the stores and drag an infant and preschooler along. Little R is now 3 and I have decided to try to start couponing again.  I never did as good as the extreme couponers and I have a really hard time passing up a deal once I know about it.  I never ended up cutting down on my grocery budget because of this but we had a small stockpile of food, way more than we have on hand at any given time now.

So I've asked my parents to start saving the coupon inserts for me again.  I don't get a paper.  They do, but they don't use the coupons.

I'm going to try to just watch the sales for Acme and Giant Eagle. (Giant Eagle does the double coupons up to 99 cents, Acme doesn't).  Plus my usual Aldi shopping.  I can usually run into a store real quick on my lunch hour so I'm not dragging the kids in and out everywhere.

I guess we'll see how I do.

  1. Your Acme doesn't double coupons? Mine does, up to 99c. That's strange, I thought it was a chain-wide policy. I too used to be really good with coupons, and would donate food I got for cheap or almost free that I normally wouldn't use (like cereals and boxed dinners). But then I just stopped shopping as much, and that fell through. Like you, I don't get the papers, and my parents were never really good about keeping their coupons, so I was restricted to online ones, and even those developed many issues and would never print, so... I stopped it. I'll try to restart as well.

  2. I live in an area where we get low-value coupons and no store doubles, so I understand! I do go to Walgreens and CVS and stockpile drugstore items though... every little bit helps!
