A few years ago, I had a co-worker that had started dating a new guy. She was going on and on about how this guy had seriously wined and dined her. He would take her out all the time to really nice restaurants spending lots of money.
My co-worker looked at me and said "Every girl should no what its like to be wined and dined." And I could tell by the way she said it to me that it was meant to say that I had missed out. My husband and I started to date when I was 17 and we were both working crappy low-paying jobs and my co-worker knew this. Our first date was Burger King and a dollar movie which didn't bother me one bit.
Fast forward a few years and this woman ended up marrying this guy that had "wined and dined" her throughout their relationship. After she was married, she confided in me that her husband had over $10,000 in credit card debt that she hadn't known about before they got married and that they were working on paying it off.
I thought it was so funny. In the end, she ended up having to pay for all that wine'n and dine'n.
Kind of ironic. She ended up paying for her own dates many times over.
