Ebay Sales

My ebay sales have been a bit slow.  But I've sold 3 things this week, which is pretty good for me.  I only ever have about 10 - 15 items listed.

Here's what I sold this week:

Leap Frog  Learning Toy &Vtech Phone

The Leap Frog toy was one of my girls.  We have tons of toys like this and this one we've had for years so I figured it was time to go. I bought the vtech phone at a garage sale for $1.  It was in really great condition and was one of the coolest toy phones I've ever seen.  Little R had a lot of fun playing with it until I got around to listing it.  Sale Price $17 f/s, Profit $7.81

Fisher Price Pop Onz

Pop Onz: I bought a large box of these at a garage sale for $8. They have been split up into two lots so I am only counting $4 as the cost of this set.  This Musical Farm Board and travel mountain with accessories sold for $16.00 plus shipping, Profit $9.26

Toddler Boy Shoes  Sketchers & Carters

I bought the Carters Sandals at a garage sale for $1 and the Sketchers for $2 at the thrift store.  I thought these would sell better but I've had them since the beginning of summer and had to lower my price.  I think I'm just going to stick to Nike's from now on.  Those seem to sell the best.  Sale Price: $13.75 f/s, Profit: $2.97 - Blah

  

Ebay Sales This Week

Nike Torch 4 Toddler Girl Shoes - Bought at Garage Sale for $1, Sold for $16 f/s.  Total Profit: $6.94








Abercrombie fur lined hoodie - bought at garage sale $3, Sold for $24.92 including the shipping.  Total Profit: $9.54








Gymboree toddler brown corduroy jacket with elbow patches - I'm very bummed about this one.  I purchased it for $1, sold it for $12.50 f/s.  Not much profit but still made a few bucks.  When I packaging it to ship, I realized there is a tear in the lining of one of the pockets.  I offered the buyer a refund which means I'll be out the ebay and pay pal fees or I offered it to her for only $8 which is enough to cover all my costs.  I hope she chooses the second option.

So I made over $21 this week.  Nothing great but I think it's fun. I have some more items that should get me a higher profit listed.  Hopefully those will sell soon.

Thrift Store Shopping Guilt

I like shopping at thrift stores, buying everything from toys and clothes for the girls to clothes for myself and furniture.  Mr. R is a thrift store addict.  Whenever he has some free time to waste, he goes to one of the many thrift stores around.

Whenever I'm eBaying, I buy a lot of what I sell from thrift stores and that's when I feel guilty.  I feel bad that I'm buying good quality toys and shoes at such a low price to resell them when their could be a poor family that could use these items for their children.  It's like I'm ruining the chances of someone getting good quality low cost items that truly needs them.

The guilt hasn't stopped me yet and I know a lot of people do this.  But I still feel guilty.  Especially when Big R. yells out "Are these for me or are you selling them" whenever I place a toy in our cart.

Does anyone else ever feel guilty about shopping at thrift stores to buy merchandise to sell on eBay?

We've caught the ebaying bug

I had 3 great sales since I started selling on eBay again.  I've made $51 in profit on just those 3 sales.  Mr. R picked out 1 of the things we sold: a pair of men's Nike air max shoes.  He found them at a garage sale for $2 and they sold the first time I listed them for $34.99!

So now Mr. R is really into finding good deals at garage sales, thrift stores and even things in our own house we aren't using so we can sell it all on eBay and make some extra money.

There's a thrift store down the road from us that has 50% off Wednesdays.  Most of what I buy to resell is toys and kids' shoes.  I've been branching out to name brand adult shoes like the Nike's and a pair of ecco women's shoes that I just picked up yesterday for $2.

It's very exciting and I check my phone many times a day to see if I have any bids or if anyone is even looking at the stuff I have listed.

I booked a really nice, big family vacation for February 2015 yesterday so this extra money will come in handy.  I plan on hitting as many garage sales as I can to earn as much as I can this summer to help pay for the trip and to go towards my savings goals this year.  Living in Ohio, once it gets cold and the garage sales stop, my inventory dwindles.

Lots of Garage Sale Finds today.

I took a half day today from work and Mr. R and I spent the afternoon hitting the sales.  We spent $76!

But I got lots to sell.  Tons of Mega Blocks, total cost: $35: a Mega Block fold up table, Mega block Farm, Disney Mega Block People, a Dump Truck, another large truck, hundreds and hundreds of blocks...etc.  We are saving the best for our girls to play with.  Big R has been playing with them for hours, only stopping for dinner.  But I still have over 300 blocks and the large truck to sell.

I also got a huge set up Pop Onz (another type of blocks) with a table with storage, farm accessories and animals and more.  I got the whole set for $8.

A pair of Really nice Nike Air Max Men Shoes for $2, a pair of purple converse toddler girl shoes for $1.  2 vintage clothing patters for $.25 and some other vintage stuff to try and sell.

I also got a really nice glue gun for myself for $5 and 3 pairs of shoes for little R for only $1 each.

It was a great day.  But now I'm a little nervous about spending so much.  We had our phones with us so we could check recent sales before we purchased items so I know most of what we got should sell.  I just need to get them listed and find boxes for everything.

1st Day Back Selling on Ebay & already making $

I sold on Ebay a lot last year but haven't been doing it for a while. Since this time of year is so easy finding fun stuff to sell at garage sales, I decided to get back into it to help raise more money toward my $12,000 savings goal for 2014. I listed this Learn Through Music Toy with 4 cartridges as an auction starting at $29.99 or Buy it Now for $39.99.  It sold within a couple of hours.  I should have started the price higher :).  We originally purchased this Learn Through Music Plus, the 4 cartridges and an Original Learn Through Music about a year or two ago at garage sales and the thrift store.  I think we paid $5 altogether for everything. The original Learn Through Music wasn't working so well and was kind of loud when it rewound the cartridges so I decided not to try to sell it.  But this one worked fine.  My kids got to play with them for a year or two.  It's been in the basement in a garage sale pile for about 3 months and the girls never noticed they were missing.  After the shipping, pay pal fees and eBay fees, I made $23.51.

This weekend we hit the garage sales and I spent $9 on two items to sell on eBay. I'm going to use the money I made today to pay myself back the $9 and then use the rest of the money to purchase more stuff to sell.  I want to make sure I keep all the costs separate so any profits will go straight to savings and not get mixed in with our regular cash flow.

One thing I bought today was a set of wooden doll house furniture.  I've sold dollhouse furniture before and it sold well.  I was hoping the wooden furniture would be worth more but it doesn't look like it.  I paid $6 for the 24 pieces and after shipping and fees will probably only make a few bucks off it.  Same with a wooden block city building set.  I paid $3 and after all the costs will only probably make a few dollars.  I have a friend who is having a garage sale at the end of the summer so if they don't sell, I can at least try to get my money back by selling them at her garage sale.  It's really hard to make money with the cost of shipping and then all the fees.  It's a bit frustrating.
