When I first started with my current FT employer, within less than 5 months I was told that it was extremely likely I'd be laid off and that I should start looking at other work opportunities. I did that, but the layoff never came. This was 4 years ago, and my job is pretty much secure now, but it was a lot of uncertainties going back then...
